Ever since I was a child, I would always hear stories about Abu Dhabi and its amazing looking skylines and here we are now a few years ahead, I finally got the opportunity to visit this truly amazing place!
I took a direct flight out of London Heathrow Airport to the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi which had a total flight time of around 7 hours. Heading into this trip, I didn’t quite know what to expect since it was the first time that I will be travelling in this part of the world.
The United Arab Emirates is located in the Middle East and has seven Emirates within their country with Abu Dhabi as the capital city. The country is ruled by an absolute monarchy and their current president as of now is from the royal family of Abu Dhabi; His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During this trip I travelled with a friend from university who is an Emirati national and spoke to me about visiting their home country once we had finished our education in the UK. That time came on the summer of 2016. I arrived in Abu Dhabi full of excitement with endless opportunities of making new friends along the way, learning about the culture, and of course their local dishes!
Coming from a cool temperature weather in London, I expected the weather to be warmer in Abu Dhabi and it was warmer than expected. I arrived in the early hours in Abu Dhabi and as soon as I got off the plane, a blow of hot air went to my face and found out that the weather was 32 degrees centigrade and considering it was only morning back then, I could not imagine what the temperatures would be like when 12pm lunchtime strikes. So I definitely suggest to pack light thin wear clothing such as t-shirts, jogging pants, and shorts when going to the UAE in the summer which is around May to July time since it is very hot! Here in this blog I have attached pictures from when we went for a drive around Abu Dhabi and it is safe to say that I have fallen in love with this beautiful place!
